Monthly update from WING Delivery Marketplace’s CEO
Welcome to my regular blog and progress update from your WING Team! Happy Holidays to you all first and foremost 🙂
We wish you all Smooth and Productive New Year!
I hope to give you Wing progress updates more regularly from now on. We started our operation after raising a seed level investment in June 2016. During May and June, we also obtained our e-marketplace licence in Dubai’s DMCC Free Zone. Last few months we hired our first 20 full time staff, set up our dispatch centre and went live with upgrades of our platform and booking apps!
Let me point out that we are not a courier or delivery service provider but a MARKETPLACE. This means we deliver via our service providers/ partners such as QExpress, Tawseelah, SkyNet, DTDC, OneClick and Airbourne amongst many others. I am pleased to report to you that we have close to 20 service providers actively engaged with us and delivering your orders.
Why Us? – Because we bring real time booking apps for you – in just a few taps you have someone picking up your items at affordable rates! We also buy for you in bulk so Small Businesses and Consumers get fantastic rates even for single booking as a result! You can have a choice to switch if you are not happy with your service provider by talking to our customer service team.
We are also piloting International Shipping at bargain rates from December! Local Shipping starts from 13 Dirhams even if you ship just one item, or international shipping starts from 20 Dirhams to India, Anywhere in Europe from 40, and US from 47! All with a tap from the app or click of a button from Wing.ae!
To date, we have shipped nearly 75k parcels, mostly e-commerce orders and our team helped through November sales boom to many of our merchants, including Souq.com in their White Friday season!
In the new year, we will continue to bring more choice (Service Providers) and cost improvements where we can. We are equally providing feedback to our supply partners as this is key to improve the industry standard across the region. We are also working hard to sign up well-known providers such as Aramex, Fedex, UPS and DHL amongst others. Hopefully they will come on board soon.
It is great to be an intermediary for all and if we can create a system of linking up between many providers and help them to load share at some point in the future, it will be a great achievement. In the near term, we will roll out the the same day delivery services in Abu Dhabi and plan to open our KSA/Riyadh operation soon!
